Week 5: West Carroll vs AFC

Savanna -

Playing in their homecoming game, and moving the game a day early, West Carroll was in search of their 4th win, while AFC was clinging to keep a playoff hope alive.

West Carroll would take control quickly, as Aiden Sullivan would rush in for both TD's on each of the first two Thunder possessions to give them a 14-0 1st quarter lead.

In the 2nd quarter, the Raiders would threaten, behind Matt Thompson and Peyton Lanning, but would come up short. As the half would come to a close, Thunder quarterback Derek Tracy would connect with Jackson Miller for a 9 yard touchdown connection. After the two point try by Tracy was good, West Carroll would take a 22-0 lead into the half.

In the third quarter Aiden Sullivan would add his 3rd touchdown run of the game, after returning to the game from an injury to put the Thunder up 30-0 heading in to the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter, Tracy would connect with Michael Popkin for a 31 yard touchdown pass. The two point try failed, and the Thunder were up 36-0 with 7:26 left in the game.

AFC would get on the board behind a 1 yard touchdown run by Matt Thompson, and Dylan Moore would add the two point conversion to bring the final in favor of West Carroll to 36-8.

With the win, the Thunder improve to 4-1 on the season. Next week they travel to face #1 ranked Forreston. AFC drops to 0-5, and with that loss they are out of playoff contention. The Raiders fought really hard, but couldn't come up with the plays at the right times to keep drives goin.

Derek Tracy added another 53 yards on the ground, and was 12-18 passing for 140 yards, two touchdowns and 1 interception. Kody Sipe picked up 36 yards rushing, while Michael Popkin had 5 receptions for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.
