Week 4: Forreston vs AFC

Franklin Grove -

The Forreston Cardinals have been the number 1 ranked team in state since the beginning of the season. Following a sloppy performance in week 1 against Dakota, the Cards have dominated their last 2 games with running clocks.

Friday night's match-up with the Raiders would be no different, as the Cardinals pounded out 441 yards rushing with 15 different ball carriers, and 480 yards of total offense. Jordan Neuschwander would find the endzone first on a 10 yard run. The Ethan Mulder two point try was good, as Forreston was up 8-0 just 1:01 into the game. Three minutes later, Mulder would score his only touchdown of the night on a 44 yard run. A Bailey Cullor to Austin Mitchell pass was completed for the two point try, and Forreston was up 16-0 with 7:52 to play in the 1st quarter.

The second quarter was dominated by Dom Christensen, as he accounted for three touchdowns, the first coming on a 36 yard touchdown run, the second coming on a 34 yard pass from Cullor, and the final one coming on a 12 yard touchdown run. This would push the score to 40-0 with 4:35 to go until halftime. With 3:09 remaining in the half, Austin Mitchell would put the final touches on the game for Forreston, as he rushed the ball for a 5 yard touchdown run, extending the score to 48-0 with 3:09 left in the half.

Peyton Lanning would put AFC on the scoreboard in the 3rd quarter after he rushed for a 20 yard touchdown run. The two point try was good, as the final score was 48-8 in favor of Forreston.

Forreston was led by Dom Christensen, who finished the night with 2 carries for 48 yards, 1 reception for 34 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Ethan Mulder and Jordan Neuschwander both rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. Bailey Cullor was 2 for 3 passing for 39 yards, 1 touchdown, and rushed the ball four times for 30 yards.

AFC was led on the ground by Peyton Lanning, who had 38 yards rushing on 5 carries and 1 touchdown. Dylan Moore pitched in with 24 yards rushing. Rodney Ramirez was 8 for 14 passing for 77 yards.
