Week 4: West Carroll vs Amboy
Amboy -
When Amboy entered the conference in 2016, they have had some good games with the West Carroll Thunder, holding a 2-1 advantage entering this week 4 contest. The Thunder were looking to get to 3-1 to start the season as they look to get back to the playoffs, while Amboy was hoping to score their first win of the season.
At the end of the 1st quarter it appeared this game would be a slugfest once again, as Amboy held a 7-6 lead after Austin Norman rushed for a 39 yard touchdown run to put Amboy ahead after the PAT kick was good.
That lead would hold up for 10 minutes, until Derek Tracy had a 6 yard touchdown run with 8:45 to go in the first half. The two point try was good, putting West Carroll up 14-7. Just over a minute later, Aiden Sullivan would score his 2nd touchdown of the night, extending the Thunder lead to 22-7 after another two point try was successful. The Thunder would take that lead into the half with them.
In the third quarter, Tracy would rush for his second touchdown of the day, this time from 13 yards out. The two point try was good as the Thunder went up 30-7 with 5:28 to go in the 3rd quarter. Just 32 seconds into the 4th quarter, Sullivan would score his 3rd touchdown of the night and cap off the scoring, as West Carroll would cruise to a 36-7 win over the Clippers.
The Thunder were led on the ground by Derek Tracy, who rushed for 127 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. He also went 6 for 8 passing for 49 yards. Aiden Sullivan had 104 yards rushing and 14 yards receiving with 3 touchdowns, while Cameron Simpson added 40 yards rushing. Michael Popkin hauled in 5 passes for 35 yards.
