Week 8 | Stockton vs Aquin
Freeport -
Conley Field in Freeport was the setting for a pivotal Upstate matchup, as the Stockton Blackhawks visited the Aquin Bulldogs Friday night. For the Blackhawks, a win meant a lock in the playoffs as they would clinch their spot with win number 6. For Aquin, a win meant they would become playoff-eligible. Something had to give as these two rivals met for another big time game.
A tight first quarter would end in a 0-0 game, but Aquin was driving as the quarter transitioned into the 2nd, and with just under a minute into the 2nd quarter Will Gustafson put the Bulldogs on the board with a 3 yard run.
Late in the 2nd quarter, the Blackhawks would start putting it together, as they drove deep into Bulldog territory, and then Chase Rowe punched it in from 5 yards out with 3:58 left in the half. The two point conversion was good as Stockton took an 8-6 lead into half.
In the 3rd quarter, the Blackhawks would get going again late in the quarter, and this time it was Colin Dvorak running in for 6 to give the Blackhawks a 14-6 lead with 3:58 left in the 3rd quarter.
In the 4th quarter the Bulldogs couldn't get anything to sustain, and late in the quarter once again it was Dvorak time, as he punched in a 20 yard run to put the silencer on the game as the Blackhawks punched their ticket to the playoffs for the 32nd time in their history.
The Bulldogs fall to 4-4 with the loss, and will need a monumental upset of undefeated Milledgeville next week to become playoff-eligible.
