Week 4 | EPC vs Forreston
Forreston -
The last time the EPC Wildcatz beat the Forreston Cardinals, they went on to win the Class 2A State Championship in 2014. With expectations high at EPC, Friday night would give them a chance to see where they stack up in the conference. Coming off 3 straight wins over mediocre opponents, EPC knew they would have to play at a higher level to compete with Forreston.
EPC wasted little time finding the end zone after a big return on the opening kickoff set them up at the Forreston 45 yard line. 7 minutes later, EPC would take the lead on a 2 yard run by Jayden Kempel (19 carries, 104 yds, 3TD).
Forreston knew they were in for a challenge, but would answer the call on their opening drive, just 3 minutes later on a Hunter Rogers to Don Christensen connection from 15 yards out. This would prove to be Forreston's only lead of the game.
In what seemed like a game that could go back and forth, saw Forreston’s lone score on their opening possession. At halftime EPC led Forreston 14-8.
The second half was all Wildcatz, as EPC would add 20 points and cruise to a 34-8 victory over Forreston.
Forreston was led on the ground by Evan Kelsey, who had 37 yards on 13 carries
For EPC, Braden Smargiassi was 7-15 for 104 yards.
EPC (4-0) will travel to Lena Winslow (4-0) next week, while Forreston (2-2) will travel to Aquin (3-1).
