Round 2 | Aquin vs LeRoy

After a long trip south in a Class 1A IHSA 2nd round match up in the North bracket, the #10 state ranked and #4 seed Aquin Bulldogs faced the LeRoy Panthers.
Aquin would strike first in the game as Jonah Diemer found Cole Luedeking on a 26 yard TD pass to take the lead 7-0. LeRoy would answer with a TD pass of their own to take the lead 8-7 after a successful 2 point try. From here it was all Dawgs as they opened up the lead.
Later in the first half Diemer would strike again, this time hitting Zac Cummins on a 5 yard TD pass. The extra point failed and Aquin would take a 13-8 lead into half time.
In the second half, Diemer would throw his 3rd TD pass of the game, connecting with Luedeking yet again, this time from 44 yards out on a screen pass. The 2 point try was good and Aquin led 21-8.
At the start of the 4th quarter Diemer would connect on his 4th TD pass of the day, this time he hit Patrick Gustafson for a 1 yard TD pass and Aquin had a lead they would never give up at 28-8.
LeRoy would strike one more time as they had a rushing TD to bring the final score to 28-14 in favor of the Bulldogs.
Diemer would finish the day with 273 yards passing and 4 TD. Luedeking would finish the day with 9 carries for 82 yards and 4 receptions for 69 yards and 2 TD's. Gustafson would finish with 4 receptions for 57 yards and 1 TD.
Aquin shut down the Panther rushing attack in the second half to help spring them to the Round 2 win.
Aquin improves to 10-1 and will play host to Ottawa Marquette (11-0) at 1pm at Conley Field in the quarterfinals next Saturday.
