Week 2 | Milledgeville @ Aquin

This game was the Upstate Game of the Week, and it didn't disappoint either as Aquin clung to a 14-12 victory, their 2nd straight game they have won by less than a touchdown.

Aquin was forced to punt on their first drive of the game. A 44 yard punt by Zac Cummins would pin the Missiles on their own 10 yard line, and the Bulldog defense would push Milledgeville back to their own 5 yard line. Forced to punt from their own end zone, the Missiles would have a break down on special teams as Aquin's Tim Harrington would open the scoring on a 40 yard punt return TD just two minutes into the game. The extra point try would be good, giving the Bulldogs the early 7-0 lead.

The score would remain the same until midway through the 3rd quarter when Milledgeville would be penalized for an illegal hit to Aquin QB Jonah Diemer on a failed 4th down try, giving the Bulldogs another chance on offense. Aquin wouldn't waste any time taking advantage of this penalty as Diemer found a receiver for an 18 yard TD strike. With the extra point going through the uprights, Aquin took a 14-0 lead.

Millegeville would get on the board before the end of the 3rd quarter, as a 72 yard drive was topped off with a 5 yard TD run by Carson Boyer. Milledgeville would fail on their two point try, but would cut the lead to 14-6.

After a Bulldog turnover in the 4th quarter, Missiles QB Brexton Flynn would find Boyer on a screen pass for a 46 yard TD. Milledgeville would fall short on their two point try, sealing the win for Aquin.

Aquin improves to 2-0 on the season. The Missiles drop to 1-1 on the season.
