Week 7 | Dakota vs Amboy

The Amboy Clippers came into the game with a 2-4 record, and playing for their playoff lives. Amboy came out firing and didn’t take long to capitalize. Austin Norman ran the ball from 30 yards out to give the Clippers a quick 7-0 lead.
Dakota was slowed down and held to a 3 and out on their opening drive and was forced to punt the ball. With 1:55 remaining in the first quarter Amboy struck again, this time from Mitchell McLaughlin. A 5 yard run had the Clippers up 14-0.
Dakota, a team known in past years to not come back, drove the ball deep into Amboy territory before turning the ball over on downs. This proved to be a crucial part of the ballgame as it gave Dakota confidence in knowing they could move the ball on the Clipper defense.
Dakota would finally find the endzone on a 24 yard run by Trey Engelbrecht. Amboy lead 14-7 at halftime.
Dakota received the ball at halftime, and in under 3 minutes found the endzone again. With weather conditions deteriorating, the Indians went for 2 and converted, making the score 15-14 in favor of Dakota.
With little time remaining in the game, Engelbrecht found the endzone again for the Indians on a 49 yard run that would seal the game for the Indians as they would win 22-14. Engelbrecht finished the game with 167 yards.
With the win, Dakota improves to 6-1 on the season and will take on EPC (6-0) next week. With the loss, Amboy falls to 2-5 and will travel to Galena (2-5). With the win Dakota has clinched a playoff spot in the field of 32.
