Week 4 | West Carroll vs Stockton
Savanna -
It was billed as a big NUIC crossover match, and rightfully so, as this one lived up to the expectations. We are talking about Stockton and West Carroll, and this game had the intrigue of a rivalry game. This game went back and forth all night, but it was West Carroll who prevailed at the end with an 18-12 win.
After the first quarter went scoreless, it was the Blackhawks who struck first behind the running of Colin Dvorak who ran it in from 15 yards out just 3 minutes into the 2nd quarter to give Stockton the edge, 6-0 after a failed conversion attempt.
West Carroll would respond a few minutes later, as they continued to run down the field with the likes of Derek Tracy, Kody Sipe, and Aiden Sullivan taking turns, but it was Tracy who would sneak it in from a yard out to tie the game with 5:10 left in the half.
After a quick turnover, West Carroll went to work again. Once again attacking the Stockton defense on the ground, and once again it was Tracy punching it in for 6, for a 12-6 lead that the Thunder would carry into halftime.
In the 3rd quarter the Blackhawks would strike back after both teams exchanged possessions to start the 2nd half. Once again, it was Dvorak hitting pay dirt on a 34 yard TD run to tie the game with 5:28 left in the 3rd period.
