Week 3 | Orangeville vs Warren

Orangeville -

The Orangeville Broncos played their 2nd Saturday contest of the season, but this time the temps made the game really feel like fall. It was a game Orangeville needed to win to stay headed in the direction of their goal, the playoffs. However, Warren would have their say in this one as well, as the Warriors gave the Broncos everything they had.

Orangeville quickly jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first half, scoring on their first 3 possessions. Carter Kleckler would run the ball in on broken roll out pass plays that left him plenty of green grass, as he scored from 25 yards out and 11 yards out respectively. Garret Rodebaugh added a 3 yard one less than 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter, and would end the scoring for the first half.

The 2nd half would bring some fireworks, and bring life back into the game as Warren received the kickoff to start the 2nd half. Ethan Williams would take a QB option for a few yards to start the drive. Then he connected with Brady Cox on a big 19 yard pass play that put the Warriors in Bronco territory. A few plays later, and Williams would find Cox again for a 9 yard TD pass. The 2 point try would miss, but the Broncos was cut down to 22-6 with 9:32 to play in the 3rd.

Less than 2 minutes later, the Broncos responded, as Carter Kleckler found Breyton Schofield on the right sideline, but the throw was a little off. Schofield shifted his body, extended his right hand while taking a leap, and somehow pulled it in, got past a defender, and scored from 38 yards out. The two point conversion was good as the Broncos pulled ahead 30-6 with 7:53 left in the 3rd.

Warren would not go into the evening without a fight, as once again they would move the ball behind the legs and arm of Ethan Williams. Williams would find Brayden Bohnsack on a big 32 yard gain, followed by an 11 yard run from Williams, and then a Williams to Bohnsack connection for a 6 yard TD. Once again, the two point try failed, but Warren cut the lead to 30-12 in favor of Orangeville.

Warren would then force Orangeville to punt, and begin their drive at the Bronco 45 yard line. Two plays later Williams found room on a QB option and it was off to the races, as he scored from 35 yards out. After another unsuccessful 2 point conversion Warren closed the gap to 30-18 with 1:32 left in the 3rd quarter.

That is when Orangeville slowed things down, and started to eat the clock as they strictly went to the run game, using a mixture of Chase Jordan, Brandon Raetz, and Rodebaugh to move the ball down the field. With under 7 minutes left in the game, Rodebaugh put the final touches on this game with a 1 yard TD run to bring what would be the final score to 36-18.

For Warren on the day, Ethan Williams led the charge, with 202 yards of total offense with 2 TD passes and a TD run. Brayden Bohnsack would be his leading target with 5 receptions for 60 yards and 1 score.

The Broncos were led by Rodebaugh, who would get over 100 yards while running for 2 TD's. Kleckler also ran for 50 yards and 2 scores, while having the one big pass play that resulted in a TD to Breyton Schofield.
