Week 3 | Stockton vs Milledgeville

Stockton -

This game had the hype leading up to it, game of the year some were saying, and the game to determine the conference champion. It proved to be all of it, except on the scoreboard, where Milledgeville jumped out to a quick lead on a Carson Boyer 87 yard TD return on the opening kickoff en route to a 34-8 win over Stockton, their first win in 10 years.

In the 2nd quarter, Christian Toms-Smith returned a punt for 77 yards to give Milledgeville a 14-0 lead they would take with them into halftime. Milledgeville struggled to move the ball offensively most of the night, as they didn't pick up their first 1st down until midway through the 3rd quarter, but it didn't count as a stat because Boyer broke through for a 52 yard TD run and extended the Missiles lead to 20-0. Milledgeville would pick up their first official 1st down midway through the 4th quarter.

Stockton had several drives that ended in Milledgeville territory, but struggled to move the ball consistently. Finally, in the 4th quarter Stockton was on the board on a 2 yard TD run from Colin Dvorak, followed by the 2 point conversion to bring the score to 20-8.

The momentum that Stockton gained quickly diminished, however, as Carson Boyer ripped off another big run, this time from 60 yards out for the score to put the dagger in the Blackhawks. Milledgeville would tack on one more score after a fumble recovery set them up with a short field and they would punch it in for the final score.

For Milledgeville, Carson Boyer had a game high 130 yards rushing on 8 carries and 3 total TD's.

On the other side, Colin Dvorak was held to just 50 yards on 22 carries and the lone score for Stockton.
