Week 2 | River Ridge vs Orangeville

Hanover -

Our Upstate Game of the Week featured a pair of teams both looking to make a name for themselves in 2018, and work towards making the playoffs. The Orangeville Broncos traveled to Hanover Friday night, seething from a Week 1 loss they let get away, to take on the River Ridge Wildcats who pitched a shutout in Week 1. It is only Week 2, but this game had a lot riding on it as far as playoff implications are concerned for both teams.

The Broncos would strike early and often in this one, as Garret Rodebaugh led the charge with the 1st points of the game coming on a 54 yard TD run. This would give the Broncos an early 6-0 lead. Later in the 1st quarter it was Rodebaugh again, this time rushing the ball from 12 yards out extending the Bronco lead to 12-0 to close out the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, the Wildcats would answer on a 48 yard TD pass from Jacob Speer to Wyatt Potter to pull within 6 points, but it was all Orangeville after that, as the Broncos went on to score 26 unanswered points in a dominating win, 38-6.

Orangeville used 418 yards on the ground to control the game, and keep the Wildcat offense off the field. Leading the Bronco charge was Rodebaugh, who finished the night with 243 yards rushing on 26 carries, and 3 TD's. Chase Jordan added 2 more TD's, rushing the ball 10 times for 83 yards.

The Wildcats were led behind the right arm of Jacob Speer, who went 13-34 passing for 199 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. His leading targets were Wyatt Potter, who had 3 receptions for 67 yards and 1 TD, while Nick Parr added 2 receptions for 67 yards. Kam Kiley added another 58 yards receiving on 7 receptions.
