Amboy Clippers
The Amboy Clippers joined the NUIC in the 2016 season, and entered with high expectations coming from the always tough Three Rivers Conference. The Clippers haven't been able to live up to those expectations so far in the Northwest Division, but they have been competitive in their short time in the NUIC. Coach Gary Jones has been around for a while, and it wasn't so long ago that his Clippers had a run in the playoffs.
The expectations for Amboy are not very high, which leaves room for plenty of surprises if Coach Jones can get things turned around, and with quite a bit of talent coming up combined with that of which returns, the Clippers have a fighting chance if they can prove to compete with the top teams in the Northwest.
The Clippers have made the playoffs 19 times going 26-18 in school history. In that time they have collected 1 state title and 2 runner-ups, but those runs came in the old 5 class system. The Clippers last made the playoffs in 2014, where they were routed by eventual state champ EPC in the 1st round. The Clippers have an uphill battle to reach the playoffs again, but Coach Jones is no stranger to success at Amboy, he just needs to get the boys to believe it can happen.
