East Dubuque Warriors

The East Dubuque Warriors enter 2018 with an opportunity to get back to their recent winning ways. Wins have been tough to come by for the Warriors since they moved from the Upstate division to the Northwest division in 2015. Coming off a competitive 2016 season, the Warriors took a step backwards in 2017, with most of the same team in tact. In 2018, they will return some key players, but need to find ways to compete with the upper echelon of the Northwest if they want to make a return to the playoffs.

The Warriors last reached the playoffs in 2013, ending a 5 year run of playoff births including back to back quarterfinal appearances in 2009 and 2010. The last time East Dubuque had a winning record was their last year in the Upstate Division when they went 5-4, in 2014. For the Warriors to get back to the playoffs, they will need to rely on their senior leaders, an improved line on both sides of the ball, and win some games they are not expected to win.

The Warriors are looking for their 8th trip to the playoffs, where they are 7-7 all-time. The best run the Warriors put together came back in the 2000 season when they reached the semifinals for the first and only time in school history. That year was the 2nd straight year that the semifinals featured the same 2 conferences representing all 4 semifinal teams.
