Week 5 | Dakota vs Du-Pec

Pecatonica- When Tyler Hoffman took the job as the inaugural coach of the Du-Pec Rivermen, he knew the team would take their lumps and hosting Dakota would prove to be the same. Dakota took the opening kick to the D/P 31 and the first play from scrimmage would find Trey Englebrecht cruising to the end zone on a 31 yard touchdown scamper giving the Indians an 8-0 lead after the Grant Gallagher conversion. After a punt from each team, the action would pick up at the 4:57 mark of the first quarter when a D/P backwards pass would be pounced on by the Indians, setting them up at the D/P 18 yard line. The Indians would add to their lead on a 31 yard field goal by Nolan Lentz to go up 11-0. D/P punted five times in the game, none of which were better than at the 9 minute mark of the second quarter placing the ball at the Dakota 1 yard line. However, 2 plays later and Dakota was off to the races as Mason Peters ripped off a 95 yard run for the touchdown. Dakota was in business again just 1:53 later as it was Peters again finding pay dirt, this time from 48 yards out, giving Dakota a 25-0 lead at halftime. After a Brock Duncan interception to start the 2nd half, Dakota was in line to add to their lead. Trey Englebrecht found the end zone again, this time from 49 yards out, ultimately putting the game out of reach for D/P. Dakota quarterback, Kyle Bordner, would add 2 more scores for the Indians on a quarterback keeper from the 1 yard line and a 62 yard pass to Brock Duncan. D/P would finally get on the scoreboard with 42 seconds left in the game on a 1 yard run by Griffin Mulcahy to bring the final score in favor of the Indians, 45-6.
