Week 2 | Orangeville vs River Ridge

Orangeville -

Only being week 2, this game had some big implications behind it as both Orangeville and River Ridge were seeking to attain victory number 1, and help propel them moving forward. Too early to be a "must win" game, but it is exactly what each team needed to win to help set themselves up for a potential playoff opportunity.

The Wildcats would strike first in the 1st quarter, as Ben Crist busted off a 93 yard TD run, and a Jacob Speer 2 point attempt was good, springing the Wildcats to an 8-0 lead in the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter the Broncos would answer, as Austin Guy took matters into his own hands and plunged into the endzone from 3 yards out. He would add the 2 point conversion as well, knotting the score up at 8.

Then Orangeville started to take off, as they would find paydirt again as Guy found Caden Getz from 5 yards out for the score. The extra point attempt failed, but Orangeville clung to a 14-8 lead heading into the half.

The second half was tightly contested, but it was the Broncos again who found themselves on the scoreboard as Carter Kleckler dove in from 3 yards out. Another unsuccessful extra point try, but the Broncos had a 2 score lead at 20-8 heading to the 4th quarter.

In the 4th quarter, River Ridge would gain possession, however a pass was intercepted by Dalton Lowe who returned it for 40 yards and the score, as this pushed the Bronco lead to 26-8, where it would end.

On the night, despite the score, these 2 teams were evenly matched. River Ridge finished the night with 230 total offensive yards, compared to Orangeville racking up 247 total yards.

Leading the way for River Ridge was Ben Crist, who finished with 113 yards on 11 carries to go with his 1 TD. Jacob Speer went 7-32 passing for 73 yards. For the Broncos, they were led by Austin Guy, who had 77 yards passing on 3 completions with 1 TD and 53 yards rushing on 20 attempts for another score. Dalton Lowe added 70 yards rushing on 15 attempts, while Kleckler pitched in 37 yards on 7 carries with 1 TD.

Outside of the score, the game yardage was close, as Orangeville gained 247 yards in comparison to River Ridge gaining 230 yards for the night.
