Week 8 | Orangeville vs River Ridge

Orangeville went on the road Friday night to visit the River Ridge Wildcats. One team came into the game with an outside chance of making the playoffs (Orangeville) while the other came in coming off their 1st win of the season (River Ridge.)

Knowing their playoff lives were in the balance the Broncos went to work right away. In the 1st quarter Orangeville got on the board after Austin Guy punched it in from 1 yard out. The 2 point conversion was good giving the Broncos an early 8-0 lead.

In the 2nd quarter the Broncos began to open it up after Guy found pay dirt twice on a 25 yard and a 2 yard run, building the Bronco lead to 20-0. River Ridge would finally answer the bell on a Marcelo Diaz 68 yard TD run. The 2 point try was successful and the Broncos led 20-8 at the half.

In the 3rd quarter the Wildcats would cut the deficit to 6, as Diaz would score again, this time from 68 yards out, leaving the Broncos up 20-14. However, the resilience of the Broncos showed as Guy would hit pay dirt for the 4th time, this time from 40 yards out pushing the Bronco lead to 28-14.

In the 4th quarter River Ridge struck again, this time on a Jacob Speer to Wyatt Potter 30 yard TD pass, leaving the Wildcats down 8 28-20. But this night belonged to the Broncos and Austin Guy, as Guy would cap the scoring off with his 5th rushing TD of the night from 9 yards out giving the Broncos a 36-20 victory and a show down with Polo in their home season finale for a chance at the playoffs.

On the night the Broncos gained 337 yards of total offense as River Ridge gained 272 yards of offense.

The Broncos were led by Guy, who finished the night with 28 carries for 142 yards and all 5 Bronco TD's. He would also go 8-13 passing for 110 yards and 1 INT. His favorite target was Carter Kleckler who hauled in 5 passes for 92 yards. Dalton Lowe and Garret Rodebaugh each had 10 carries for 42 yards and 39 yards respectively.

The Wildcats were paced by Marcelo Diaz who had a game high 183 yards rushing on 11 carries and 2 TD's. Jacob Speer was 8-31 passing for 107 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.
