Conference Championship Showdown
When the quarterfinals kickoff Saturday afternoon at the Le-Win Athletic Bowl, it will feature the conference champions from each division of the NUIC, Aquin and Lena-Winslow. In essence, it will put to rest for the 2019 season who the real conference champion is, but more than that, the winner will move onto the semifinals as the remaining representative for a shot at state in DeKalb on November 29th. Round 2: Aquin vs Stockton
Stockton - For all the success that these two conference rivals have had throughout the years, they were only meeting up for the 4th time in the playoffs. Ironically, all those match-ups have come in the 2nd round, and Aquin has won them all. After meeting in week 2, where Aquin won 40-22 convincingly, there was something about this game that had the feeling it was going to be a good one. Orangeville - Entering the 2nd round of the Class 1A playoffs, Orangeville and Lena-Winslow would meet for the 2nd time this year. They met back in week 6, where the Panthers won 46-7. Orangeville was hosting their first playoff game since 2001, and were looking for a better result the second time around. The Rivermen Exceed Expectations
Durand was a football town. Just take a look back at their history as they made the playoffs 15 times in the first 26 seasons of its existence. Take a drive through Durand and you always saw Bulldogs signs lining the streets. Stop into Pacemaker and you could never miss the Bulldog jerseys hanging against the back wall. Durand - In just their 3rd season of the co-op between Durand and Pecatonica, the Du-Pec Rivermen found some more success this year as they improved upon their 3-6 record from a year ago, and turned that into a 6-3 record and a playoff bid. With that, they were also the recipient of the 7 seed in the Class 3A playoffs in the North bracket, giving the Rivermen a home playoff game.
