Week 4: EPC vs Milledgeville

September 21, 2019

Lanark -

The storyline of the week was rivalry games, and this game was a revival of a former South division rivalry. And this game would live up to that rivalry standard as EPC would stave off a comeback attempt by the Missiles sealing the game with a Braydin Preston interception to preserver a 20-12 win.

EPC would get things going quickly in front of the home crowd, as just over two minutes into the game Lane Christians would connect with Preston for a 60 yard touchdown pass. After the Hector Rubial extra point try was good, EPC was up 7-0.

As time was running down in the 1st quarter, EPC would get on the board again, this time from Logan Krell's 5 yard touchdown run. The extra point try by Rubial was good again, and EPC was up 14-0. It looked a route might be on heading into the second quarter, and if you asked around some people might have thought the same thing would happen before the game ever began. However, the Missiles have a lot of grit and fight in them, and they weren't throwing in the towel.

As the clock was ticking down in the second quarter, the Missiles would get on the board with 1:37 left in the half, as Marcus McKenna would score on a 3 yard run. The score was 14-6 in favor of EPC after the missed extra point try, and that score would hold true at the half.

The score would remain the same entering the 4th quarter, and then Damon Miller would bust off a 73 yard touchdown run to pull the Missiles with in two points, down 14-12. The conversion attempt failed, and EPC clung to the lead. Krell would put the final touches on the scoring, as he would rush in for his 2nd touchdown of the night from 6 yards out. The conversion kick was no good, but EPC had an 8 point lead, 20-12.

For the game, EPC would collect 349 yards of offense. They were led on the ground by Braeden Heeren, who had 115 yards on 13 carries. Logan Krell pitched in on the ground as he rushed for 98 yards on 25 carries and had 2 touchdowns. Braydin Preston hauled in 3 passes for 98 yards and a score, while also getting the interception to help close out the game. Lane Christians was 3 for 6 passing for 98 yards, 1 touchdown, and had 41 yards rushing.

Milledgeville had 192 yards of offense, led by Damon Miller who had 73 yards rushing and 1 touchdown, and also had 13 yards receiving. Marcus McKenna chipped in with 61 yards rushing and a score while hauling in 3 passes for 65 yards. Nick Smith was 7 for 13 passing for 72 yards.

EPC (2-2) heads to Dakota (1-3) in crossover action. Milledgeville gets set to take on Forreston (4-0) at home next week.
