Orangeville Broncos

August 2, 2018

The Orangeville Broncos enter the 2018 season looking for back to back playoff appearances for the first time since Head Coach Jay Doyle and Assistant Coach Willi Guy led the Broncos to the playoffs in 1995 and 1996 as players. The Broncos have made back to back playoff appearances two other times, from 1988-1989 and 1991-1993 under former Head Coach Brian Benning and 1 year under Coach Barry Reade, which culminated in the Broncos lone state title in 1989, as well as losses to eventual state champ Carthage in 1988 (27-3), eventual state champ Stockton in 1991(14-12), eventual state runner-up North Boone in 1992 (15-0), and eventual state runner-up Sterling Newman in 1993 (41-14). Of the 12 trips Orangeville has made to the playoffs, six of those runs ended to either the eventual state champ or state runner-up.

The Broncos have been looking up the last two seasons, after finishing 4-5 in 2016 and then 5-5 last year with a playoff appearance. They return the majority of last year's team, which gives the Broncos a realistic chance to compete for the Upstate conference title in 2018. And if you look at the Broncos over the last 2 season's, they are a direct reflection of what Milledgeville was in 2015 and 2016.

The Broncos are 13-11 all-time in the playoffs, but their last playoff win came in 2008 when they upset the #1 ranked Dakota Indians in the 1st round of the playoffs, avenging a loss in the regular season. Orangeville has a lot to look forward to this year, and the expectations are high in "The Ville" come this fall, one of which is to get the Broncos back in the win column in the playoffs.
