Our Upstate Game of the Week showcased the Orangeville Broncos travelling to Freeport to take on the Aquin Bulldogs. At stake was a shot for Orangeville to stay in the conference race, and for Aquin to stay on top with their undefeated conference record, and gain playoff eligibility with a win.
It was Aquin who would jump out big in the first quarter as Jonah Diemer would find Zac Cummins on a 32 yard TD pass to put Aquin up 7-0. Not too long later Diemer was throwing another bomb, this time for 63 yards to Bryce Carlson as the Dawgs took a 14-0 lead that they would carry with them into halftime.
Orangeville had no answers at stopping the pass game of the Bulldogs, as in the 3rd quarter Diemer would connect with Patrick Seas for a 13 yard TD pass and push Aquin's lead to 20-0. The 4th quarter would prove the same as once again Diemer found Cummins, this time for 12 yards to extend the Bulldog lead to 27-0.
Late in the 4th quarter Orangeville would get on the board behind a 36 yard TD run from Garret Rodebaugh. The Bronco offense just had no answer for stopping the pursuit of Cole Luedeking, as he constantly was in the backfield putting pressure on Bronco QB Austin Guy.
Aquin struggled with their run game, but behind the arm of Diemer and his 271 yards passing on 19 completions to 30 attempts and 4 TD's the Dawgs had plenty of offensive firepower to turn away the Broncos. Bryce Carlson had a game high 121 receiving yards on 5 receptions with 1 TD. Zac Cummins hauled in 6 passes for 94 yards and 2 TD's, while Patrick Seas had 3 receptions for 33 yards and 1 TD. Diemer also led the Bulldog rushing attack with 38 yards on 8 attempts, and Luedeking pitched in 29 yards on 10 attempts. For the night Aquin gained a total of 337 yards.
Orangeville was led by Garret Rodebaugh, who finished the night with 98 yards rushing on 14 attempts and a TD. Guy was 4 for 11 passing for 38 yards and 1 INT. Orangeville gained 117 yards of total offense.
