In a matchup of power conferences in the Northwest Upstate Illini and Three Rivers, Lena-Winlsow would host Bureau Valley on Saturday in the 1st round of the Class 1A State Playoffs.
Bureau Valley would hit the end zone first on a 24 yard TD pass and give the Storm an early 6-0 lead. But Le-Win wasted no time responding Bailey Litow returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to the goal line. Payden Lingle would punch it in on the next play and Le-Win would have a 7-6 lead that they would never relinquish as they put on a defensive show in their 54-14 win.
Le-Win benefited from great field position created by their defense, as their offense only had to gain 216 yards on the day. Bureau Valley would make a game of it in the 2nd quarter after a 75 yard TD pass created off a Le-Win tip brought the Storm within a score at 21-14, but it was all Rahveon Valentine from there as he would churn off 4 straight TD runs. Valentine would finish the day with 81 yards rushing on 19 carries and 4 TD's.
Lena-Winslow will advance to Round 2 and will take the road to Catlin to face Salt Fork, who upset #3 seed Stockton 43-42 Saturday just 12 miles down the road.
